A mean to remove reinforcement in a larger area

One idea is a beacon which consumes fuel, and in return it decays the blocks around it? Placing a beacon with pyramid means having control over an area (so an attacker couldn't sneak this into a vault). And this would allow for it to cost fuel to do large areas, and time (perhaps one decay increment every 24 hours or something?)

Maybe it could be a special kind of factory, but instead of a chest at the end it's a beacon, that way you can control the radius and cost through recipes.

Ooh I like that. It could consume gold blocks to acid block an area, making it a valuable tool that makes you consider your time acid blocking vs losing some of your acid blocks permanently to save time.

I think another question is how does it work exactly - does it decay/ remove all reinforcements not on the group of the factory within a radius? Or perhaps you would place gold blocks on any face of blocks you want to acid, and the factory recipe would acid all faces of the acid blocks.

Hmm, creating the actual factory should have a gold cost, and the build materials already includes beacons, which is, if I'm not mistaken, already the most expensive block in the game. But we don't want this to be out of reach for newer players who wish to take over an abandoned town, you know? Perhaps it could cost essence? But the most important part is that the aciding should be abundantly obvious, like truly unmissable to anyone around.

So I'm thinking back to the beacon idea. You place a beacon, and fuel it with a stack of gold blocks. It "warms up" similar to acid blocks. After the warmup time period has elapsed, you can /ctacid any block in a radius around the beacon. Doing /ctacid will consume the fuel in the beacon (scaling based on reinforcement type?).

This requires you to play a large piece of infrastructure (beacon + beacon base) and have control of an area to safely place it and protect it. You then need control of the area long enough to warm it up (24 or 48 hours?), and using /ctacid will consume gold blocks (consumption rate TBD) so it's not too OP.

This idea would require a custom beacon, a timer and fuel level, and /ctacid to be linked. I don't think any of those things is too burdensome, and balances the needs of it being very obvious when area-based acid is being used.
