Support for using alternate index name for maf_extract_ranges_indexed.py

Would it be possible to add a -i option to use an index other than .index for the maf_extract_ranges_indexed.py script? I have read but not write access to the folder containing my maf. Relatedly, if the scripts could work with symbolic links, that would be helpful.

Does it not work with symbolic links now? If you link the MAF files into a directory you do have write in, I would think it would generate the indexes there?

If it doesn't work, please post some error messages.
