Summary
Currently, it is not obvious to the user how to add an OPML-file if the application has feeds (either manually added or by importing an OPML-file).
Problem / Use Case
- During blind testing, I assumed the import might be in the dialog opened by the Add feed button in the sidebar (I was wrong).
- My second guess was to find the import in the Feed > Add feed (again, wrong).
- My third guess was that the import was in Feed > Feeds. But it wasn't there either. However, all three options made sense from a UX perspective.
Current Workaround
File > Import and export
Proposed Solution
This is frustrating behavior, and if the user has at least two ways to add (single) feeds, it would be odd not to provide the option to use the import function in this dialog. Or, at the very least, to allow the user to navigate from this dialog to the import dialog.
Perhaps the two similar dialog entities could be combined into a single, in which the feed URL input field is the focused. This means that adding a feed could be done in three actions:
- Pressing the hotkey for opening the add/export dialog
- Ctrl + V
- Enter
Another option is to add the Import and export item to the context menu of the empty area in the sidebar.
Environment
- Microsoft Windows 10.0.26200.7705
- FeedFlow 1.9.0-desktop
